We are learning much today at MD Anderson. First is that it is a huge place. After our initial new patient consult, we did blood work and were given time to get food and walk around. Just within the main building of the center it is much bigger than I thought. We made it toContinue reading “Long day and still going”

MD Anderson day
We had a wonderful and quiet week at home for thanksgiving. Today we go through the MD Anderson all day visit and see where the next part of this journey takes us. She did extremely well on the second round of chemo. Last night, blood work showed low platelet counts so we spent some moreContinue reading “MD Anderson day”
Back home
Michele survived the two doses of Chemo through the Ammaya Reservoir without much of a hitch. She was able to return home on Monday night. It has been a blur of a couple of days as we have had a couple of appointments the last couple of days. We know that she will have aContinue reading “Back home”
The First Brain download today
Well, that is what we are going to call it! The Ommaya Reservoir was placed last Friday. It is healing nicely. Today, we start the Infusion through the reservoir. They say it is about a 15 minute process and she may feel a few things afterwords. It is a direct path into the spinal fluid.Continue reading “The First Brain download today”
Better today…
I will keep this entry pretty short tonight. She has completed the heavy dose of the medicine. Methotrexate https://medlineplus.gov/druginfo/meds/a682019.html She has done amazingly well on this treatment. So far no big swings on energy or on her blood counts. We expect that tomorrow will be a little different but all in all it was aContinue reading “Better today…”
Cycle 2!
After a weekend visit from Christopher, we got last minute items done. Early Tuesday morning we took a nice leisurely ride back down to Galveston. A different view All checked in. It is interesting that you basically get a call with your room number in the morning. You then stop at the front desk asContinue reading “Cycle 2!”
Surgery complete.
Well surgery went a little long but it is done and she is in recovery. And we should be able to go home tonight instead of staying over. The treatments can continue and that should be early next week. It may be no surprise that when they went in they discovered that the space toContinue reading “Surgery complete.”
We did a thing today
We had a quiet but busy day. Blood work done and it is continuing to look good! We have more doctors and appointments tomorrow as well. The hair is continuing to shed and Michele starting trying out her scarfs and head coverings. And with the help of a friend… My hair challenged friends have beenContinue reading “We did a thing today”
Watching paint dry
That seems to be the most appropriate way to describe watching your blood count numbers grow. The good news is that today they are improving. Heading in the right direction is always great news. On this journey of slow and steady, progress is a good thing! Today a nice line of thunderstorms rolled in andContinue reading “Watching paint dry”
Cycle 1 is done
Today. Well. Michele is feeling like herself again. We have had a good quiet day. Started off with a nap and waited for the doctors. The hemoglobin was low and so we had a blood infusion this morning. We were worried we we may not be able to do the last chemo dose today. WeContinue reading “Cycle 1 is done”
